Baggage

  • Black Box Theatre, Southern Oregon University University Way Ashland, OR, 97520 United States (map)

Baggage unpacks an innovative take on the impacts of trauma, toxic people, and travel. In this cathartic memoir, writer/performer, Melissa Rose relives the story of her experiences as a touring spoken word artist in the United States and Europe. Originally written as a healing exercise to cope with shame, Rose blends travel memoir, dramatic monologue, and poetry together into a story of vulnerability, connection and accountability.

Melissa Rose is a professional spoken word poet and playwright. In over 20 years of performing and writing she has had her work featured numerous magazines, podcasts, festivals and book. She was a team member of 5 National Poetry Slam Teams and a featured performer at over 30 venues in Germany. Her solo show, Baggage was awarded "Best Play" at DUAF in 2020. She currently lives in Eugene, Oregon.
