The Stand

  • Theatre Studio 227 University Way Ashland (map)

After witnessing horrific crimes against women, before, during and after the pandemic, Emerald A. Behrens took the name JD, for Jane Doe, a name given to murdered women who are unidentified. This work, "The Stand" speaks out about these crimes. She is dedicating her name to the victims she couldn't save. This performance is dedicated to the victims of violence, when there is no justice, we have only ourselves. Take a stand now!

Emerald A. Behrens (She/They) reports about social justice issues, women's rights, and police brutality. She has worked for local broadcast stations and publications such as KZFR, KOCF, Darkness Radio with Tim Dennis, Pandemic Magazine, Power Poetry, and Byzarium. As a performance artist, she has been involved with Butte College Theatre Arts, Chico Cabaret, and Blue Room Theatre in Chico, California. "The Stand" with Grim Goblin Jack has been seen worldwide and is available on Bandcamp.
