The Minds We Had

Danielle Silkes

Imagine a core memory you have. You feel the significance, you remember the effects it had on you, and you definitely remember how you felt. Good or bad. This is a story told in memory, with multiple narrators. On a November night in 2011, 6 friends gather for a party one night at Cynthia’s house during their Thanksgiving break of various college years. Having all known each other for quite some time, there is much history, and much drama to gab about. As the party gets going, they each begin to realize that something is not quite right. Whether that be the nature of their friendships, the inevitable fact that they are all growing apart, or maybe something much more sinister. A coming of age comedy with an unexpected twist, “The Minds We Had” fleshes out all these concepts in a personified adventure thriller. Concepts like the fabric of trust, deciding which battles are worth fighting, and personal struggle are all hilariously explored, as these 6 people recall a night that changed everything for them. A long short-film, written and adapted by Sam Lucas, directed by Danielle Silkes.

If someone can walk out of the theater after viewing a film of hers with the feeling of introspection, then she will have reached her goal.
