Colors of Chemistry

  • ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum 1500 East Main Street Ashland, OR, 97520 (map)

Demonstrations of chemical reactions involving perceived color changes. These can come from acidity or basicity, physical changes, chemical changes, or changes in light wavelength reflections. The show will include some education while emphasizing the fun and visual effects of chemistry in action!

The SOU chemistry club is a student chapter of the American Chemical Society. We focus on public outreach and education, along with creating community events for SOU students. We are open to any major interested in chemistry, no major or course requirements! Our current officers include chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical science, and math majors. Our favorite demonstrations are the ones where we get to express pyromania (a.k.a. we like to blow stuff up).

Members: Karson McCoy (any pronouns), Kalea Adams (she/her), Patrick Latham (he/him), Meigan Feekes (she/her), Anna Oliveri (she/her)
