Blank Slate explores themes of identity, perception of the female form, and the dehumanization that often occurs when trying to make it in “the acting industry”. It is equal parts social experiment, interactive exhibition, and photography diptych. The viewer is invited to analyze The Body on display and choose from provided identifiers which can be affixed anywhere on the surface of The Body.

Content warnings include simulated nudity, body image, death, and strong language.

Artist/performer: Annie Murrell (she/her)

Prop manager: Kenneth Murrell (he/him)

Annie Murrell is a Portland-based artist and alumnus of SOU, graduating with a BFA in theatre with a concentration in performance. Recent credits include understudying Shelby and Annelle in Steel Magnolias (Oregon Cabaret Theatre), ensemble in a staged reading of Queen of the Deseret (Fuse Theatre Ensemble), and Hannah in Angels in America (Oregon Center for the Arts).  She has performed in the Oregon Fringe Festival in past years in Monsters, Synesthesium, WYRD, and other pieces.
